Guest, Speaker, Performer Bios - Narayan Nayak

Dr Narayan Nayak was born in Karkala and completed his schooling and college in Bombay. He got his MBBS from TN Medical College in Bombay and MD in General Surgery at Nair Hospital. He came to the United States in 1970 and completed his training in General Surgery and Emergency Medicine from New York.

In 1978, Dr. Nayak joined the Sacramento-Kaiser Hospital to practice Emergency Medicine as a Senior Clinical attending physician. He has volunteered for the American Heart Association and was affiliated to several medical societies.

Following retirement, Dr. Nayak published a Text-book of Emergency Medicine for post-MBBS students in India. Currently the book is in its 2nd Edition. Since 1984, Dr. Nayak has been active with Konkani Association of California & NAKA and has donated many oil paintings for fund-raising for Sammelans since 1998. As a retired individual Dr. Nayak enjoys his 60-plus years of hobbies of painting, stamp & coin collections and photography much better than before!
